Jobs dealing with young children which do not require certification?
I’m a music education major, and I have had thoughts about teaching younger children when I graduate (middle school or younger). While I may eventually move on to teaching older age levels, I will probably start there.
I love children, however, I do not have much experience with them, and I am very shy. Are there any kinds of jobs a college student could get over the summer which dealt with children that would not require any kind of certification? Child care, daycare centers, etc? I would love to work with children, and I think some experience would be very helpful. I live in northern NJ.
I’m not really sure how child care places work, so any help would be very much appreciated
Thanks!
Childcare jobs pay very little. I would suggest that you give private lessons on the instruments you excel at.
Also, you can take ECE (early childhood education) units at your local JC which will look very good for whatever you do.
You might check with your local community centers about summer camps. You might work in one of those programs being so creative as you are.
Start calling now, as they get organized way ahead of time.
Good luck!
